High School Tag

Well, I've been tagged. Thanks Vicki! It took me a while to get to it, but here it goes.

Senior picture

I actually really like my senior picture. It wasn't half bad!

Graduation, I graduated in 1997 from Delta High School in Delta, Utah.

In this picture, I'm right in front of the stage facing everybody else, 4th from the left (I'm in white). Why, because I was 7th in my class, and I gave the prayer for the graduation; something I was told not to do, but did anyway.

On to the questions:

1. Did you date anyone in your high school?

Yes, I had a couple of boyfriends. No one I was actually serious about. It's just what everybody was doing.

2. What kind of car did you drive?

I don't even remember what kind of car it was, but it was tan, and I only got to drive it for 1 year. before that, my sister drove it.

3. What was your most embarrassing moment of High School?

I did a lot of embarrassing things in High school, but I'm now most embarrassed about a couple guys that I dated. I won't name any names, but they were both way more serious about me than I was about them.

4. Were you a party animal?

Not in the way that most people mean it, but I did have a great time with my friends in High School.

5. Were you considered a flirt?

Most likely, but it was all just in fun.

6. Were you in a band, orchestra or choir?

I was always in a choir: Accapella or Bone Voce. I loved to sing. That's where I decided to get my degree in Vocal Performance.

7. Were you a nerd?

I never considered myself a nerd. Though I got good grades, I was friends with a lot of popular kids and was on the drill team, so I don't think I was a nerd.

8. Were you on any Varsity Teams?

Sports, no, but like I said, I was on the Drill team 2 years.

9. Did you ever get suspended/expelled?

No way, I never even got close.

10. Can you sing the fight song?

dum, dum, dum, dum dum, dum dum, . . . We'll all be true red, always til we're dead. Dear old Delta High.

Everyone sang it the same, I'm not the only on who only knew the last line.

11. Who were your favorite teachers?

I liked most of my teachers, but I don't remember any favorites. pretty lame huh?

12. Where did you sit during lunch?

I do remember we had a certain table where we sat. It was on the right half of the lunch room almost to the back.

13. School mascot?

The Delta Rabbits!

14. Did you go to Homecoming?

Yea, I think I went 2 different years.

15. If you could go back and do it again, would you?

High School was fun, but it's such an insecure time. I liked College better.

16. What do you remember most from graduation?

Probably saying the prayer. The top 6 usually give speeches, and lead the pledge and that sort of stuff, and in years past the 7th student says the prayer. However that year, they decided not to have a prayer for political reasons. Well, I just went up when it was time and did it anyway. I only had one complaint. It was pretty big!

17. Where did you go on Senior skip day?

Lagoon. There really is no other place to go in Utah in May.

18. Were you in any clubs?

Math club!: Can you believe it! Yes, I enjoyed math and took math tests for fun at math competitions for a year or 2 and then I got too busy.

Drama club: I was in one play Cheaper by the Dozen.

Drill team: 2 years!

I also was in 3 musicals. I was very busy, and I haven't even named everything!

19. Have you gained any weight since then?

I actually lost 10 pounds after high school. And then I put it right back on with my kids. I'm up about 15-20 pounds.

20. Who was your Prom Date?

I went to prom with a really good friend of mine, Karl. I can't remember his last name right now, but we worked together at the grocery store my senior year.

21. Are you planning to go to your 10 year reunion?

I lived out of state when we had our 10 year, but I moved back right after. I might go if they have any more. I think I'm over my insecurities of High school.

22. Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

Don't worry so much about being liked, just do what you like to do.

Bear Lake

We went away for a long weekend last weekend and had a great time! We stayed at my parents' condo in Bear Lake. The weather was cool, but that just meant more color in the mountains. It was so beautiful!

The first day there, we had John's former mission companion Chad and his wife Jamie come stay with us. It was great to spend some time with them.

We got to drive right out on the beach one day and play by the water. The kids played in the sand. John and I played frisbee, and we had a picnic lunch in the back of our car. It was a great day! Colin loved the sand!

The best part of the weekend was just hanging out together. They had an indoor swimming pool that we visited everyday, they also had a playground, and we watched a few movies together too. It was a nice relaxing getaway for all of us.

On the way home, we stopped at a campground in Logan Canyon for a picnic lunch. The colors in the canyon were so beautiful! The pictures don't do it justice.

Colin's 1st Birthday!

I can't believe it's here already! My Baby's one! What a sweet baby he is. We had a birthday party for him yesterday and it was fun to see him dig into his own cake. I went to the store to look at cakes and decided that I could do just as well on my own.

So this is the cake I decorated on my own. I think it's pretty good! It didn't look so good after Colin was done with it though.

Colin is not walking, but crawls really well now, (finally). He's got a great sense of humor, and he loves kisses and hugs. He now says "ah oh" when something gets dropped, and he loves playing one of one with both Erin and Devin (sometimes). When Daddy gets home, Colin only wants him, so I think he's a real daddy's boy. His favorite thing to do lately is throw a hard ball on the tile and watch it bounce. He gets a real kick out of it! Then he'll crawl after it and do it over and over again for up to an hour! That's my Colin.

Labor Day Camping Trip

We went camping on Labor day weekend with my parents and had a great time! We went to this great little camp ground in he middle of Utah called Maple Grove. It had a picturesque water hole where my Dad, John, and Erin went fishing. They caught a few fish too! The creek had a swing in it and a rope that swung across too. The camp ground had shade almost all day, which makes for really nice camping!

One day while my Dad and Erin were fishing on the other side of the creek, John and Devin decided they wanted to join them. Instead of going around to the road to cross, they decided to swing across on the rope. John tried it out first and couldn't get his foot out of the rope, but decided that he could probably take Devin across and put him down on the other side of the creek. That's not exactly what happened. they both ended up in the creek and Devin was not pleased to say the least, because the water was freezing!!!!!!!!! Funny to all of the rest of us though! The best part of it was that I took Devin straight back to camp, dried him off, cleaned him up, put dry clothes on him, and took his dirty clothes back down to the creek to wash them out. When I got back, Devin had plopped himself right back down in the dirt and was digging with a shovel. Boys . . . I guess I should have expected that. :)

After . . .

Colin, by the way loved camping! We built a little fort area for him and he loved every minute of it. He actually slept better than the other kids did!Oh, and yes, it rained like crazy the last night we were there, but it didn't start until bedtime. Then the last morning we just packed up and went home. It was a very successful camping trip!

A Week in the life of. . .

Our Week has been very full. First of all, (actually the end of last week) My kids love bugs. One of Erin's friends found a praying mantis and let Erin tend it for a night. It was quite big. She loved having it!

Then when we spent the weekend with my family in Delta, We found a leaf shaped bug at the park. We were at the park to celebrate the homecoming of the 145th which was in Iraq until last May. My brother, of course, was part of then 145th, so we went to celebrate, again, that he was home.

I don't have any pictures of this, but when the kids and I were on the way to the hospital for Erin's post op. appointment, we got rear ended. Yes, everyone is absolutely OK. We were not going very fast, but apparently the guy that hit me wasn't paying attention and didn't have time to stop. He felt really bad and his insurance covered everything, but it made us late for our appointment, and took up 2 of my mornings to take the durango to the shop, get the rental, and then return it and pickup my car. Not to mention the stress of the situation. We got a whole new bumper, which was only just scratched. His car was much worse off than ours.

Colin turned 11 months old on the 15th and he's still not crawling! He is definitely getting around though. He does his army crawl and gets all over the house. He's also pulling himself up, and voicing himself alot! We're discovering his funny little sense or humor. Oh Yea, and he just got his first tooth last week. My kids have all been slow to teeth, crawl, and walk. They're sure cute though.

Besides John having to move 30 feet of our sprinkler pipe that was on the neighbor's property, Saturday was great. Erin went to a sweet and Sassy birthday party for a friend. They went in a limo to the salon where they had their hair done, and their nails done, and their make-up done, and made body scrub, and got sparkled up, and . . . she came home with more stuff than she took to the party. Wow! To say the least, she had fun! And, yes, those are hair extentions!

We ended the day with a Ward party. It was a Luau. What a great idea! We had Hawaiian Haystacks for dinner. They had a fishing pond, and did the limbo and other fun games. It was a very creative and fun party.

New events!

We've had a few things happen since I last posted. I had the kids in Swimming lessons for 2 weeks. They both loved it and we will definitely be doing that again. They're both water babies.

While John's mom was here we took a day trip up to Park city. We went around town for a while, then we went up to the slopes and went on the alpine slide! We loved it! So much fun! John also went on the zip line. His first time ever! He loved it! After that, we went to Heber and rode on the Heber Valley Railroad. The kids loved it. Devin loves trains! I think that Colin enjoyed it the most though. We all had a great day.

Erin started School on July 29th. Yes in the middle of the summer. We're on Year round School here. She was so excited to go to 1st Grade! She likes her teacher, and is having a great time. She is in the same class as a neighbor girl and she loves it. They get to ride the bus together, and sit across from each other in class. The adjustment to going all day hasn't been too hard, though she tells me that she gets a little home sick sometimes.

On the 3rd day of school, Erin came home not very happy. She didn't feel very well, so I thought that maybe the lunch didn't agree with her or she had the stomach flu. Well, She was up half the night with stomach cramps and throwing up. Early in the morning she told John that her side hurt. Well, it sounded a little to familiar to John, so I took her to the doctor the next day (even though she seemed to be a bit better). The doctor wanted to rule out appendicitis, so he sent us to the ER for some blood tests. By 4:30, Erin was in surgery getting her appendix removed. It was all very scary and fast, but we're glad that she's OK. 2 days later she was better than new, with no pain and only a little tenderness near her incisions. We had her skip school on Monday, but she was back to school on Tuesday like nothing happened. Thank goodness for modern medicine! She only has one problem now. The anesthesiologist was worried that her wiggly front tooth might fall out and choke her during the surgery, so he pulled it out. When he was pulling that one out, the one next to it cam out too, so she has no front teeth! It's cute, but it's too bad for her that it's corn-on-the-cob season!!

I think I would have written all this earlier, but our computer's been giving us problems. It takes forever to boot up, and then takes a while for all of the programs to load. If anyone has any ideas or suggestion about this let me know!

Devin's Birthday!

I know it's been a long time since I've written anything on my blog, so I thought it was about time. Yes, we've moved into our awesome new house! We're getting settled in, but between the 4th of July and a big birthday party for Devin, I've been a little overwhelmed. Devin's Birthday was fun! We had mostly family over, including John's Mom all the way from Ireland! We had a Barbecue and Devin was in Spider man heaven with all the Spider man toys. I can't believe he's 3 already! How time flies! I think Devin's Baby time has flown by the fastest because he was such an easy baby! Happy Birthday Devin. We love you, my sweet boy.

We spent the 4th of July weekend in Delta, where we watched the parade, played at the park, watched the fireworks, and Went up Oak Creek Canyon for a picnic!
